History of Murphy, TX

The expansion and development of Murphy, Texas began in the late 1990’s. Prior to that decade the area near the intersection of FM 544 and Murphy Road was largely undeveloped. The First Baptist Church of Murphy and the Murphy Store were the cornerstones of the community, until the Plano Independent School District built a high school and middle school. Recently a new city hall has been completed and all four corners of Murphy’s main intersection are fully developed, with schooling centers taking up three of the four corners.
